Chives are miniature onions with super-small bulbs that are so tiny you just eat the green tops or the flowers…yip, they are edible too.
To use:
in any dish for a mild onion flavour,
as a garnish on hot dishes just before serving,
sprinkle cut leaves over baked potatoes,
make chive butter,
be generous with them in scones or muffins,
To grow:
in full sun,
plenty of compost,
can be divided,
will continue growing if you leave 5 cms of leaf on harvesting,
grows well in pots,
remove flowering stems to promote leaf growth.
